Barbara Cox

Barbara teaches Kundalini yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan, who introduced this ancient form of yoga to the western world in 1969. Kundalini yoga weaves together asana, rhythmic movement, pranayama mantra, and meditation in a dynamic, energizing, relaxing, and contemplative practice that promotes physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional energetic healing in our daily lives. The practice opens us to joy. As one yogi has put it: "After a hatha yoga class, I want to meditate. After a Kundalini class, I want to go out and play."

Barbara also brings to her teaching alignment principles learned during a longtime and continuous practice of hatha yoga. Barbara first practiced yoga as a high school student. Years later, she was inspired by her then five year old daughter to return to yoga. She discovered Kundalini yoga in 2001 and was awed by its transformative power.  She has been teaching Kundalini yoga since 2006 and is grateful to be able to offer it at YCYC.
